This section describes localization issues in the Oracle Solaris 11.1 release.
Non-GTK applications (X and Java applications) fail to connect to the input method framework when the Internet/Intranet Input Method Framework (IIIMF) is used with the ATOK Japanese language engine on non-UTF-8 locales.
Workaround: Choose one of the following workarounds:
Use the IBus input method framework with the Anthy language engine.
Use IIIMF with the Wnn language engine.
