The Administration menu enables you to administer the Oracle Solaris Desktop and perform tasks such as configuring network devices, managing printers, maintaining SMF services, and configuring the system to take automatic ZFS snapshots. For more information about the individual administration utilities accessed through the menu, click Help in the associated dialog.
The Administration menu has the following items:
Core Files – Configure names, locations, and contents of core files that are generated by the Oracle Solaris Desktop.
Network – View and configure network interface properties, connection profiles, locations, and network modifiers.
Package Manager – Search, add, update, and remove software packages by using the Oracle Solaris Image Packaging System. You can also view and edit package publishers and boot environments.
Print Manager – Add, remove, and configure local and network printers by using the Common UNIX Printing System (CUPS).
SMF Services – Monitor, configure, enable, and disable Service Management Facility (SMF) services on the local system.
System Firewall – Configure system-wide or service-specific firewall policy setting.
Time Slider – Enable or disable regular snapshots of specified ZFS file systems. When enabled, users can visualize and browse the content of historical snapshots by using the file manager.
Time/Date – Set the system clock, or configure it automatically from a time server.
Update Manager – Verify and install available package updates.
