The Places menu is a quick way to go to various locations on the computer and local network. Use Places menu to open the following items:
Home folder.
Desktop folder, which corresponds to the items displayed on the desktop.
Items in the file manager bookmarks. For more information about using bookmarks, see Using Bookmarks.
Local drives on the system.
CD/DVD Creator.
Local network. For more information about accessing network places, see Accessing Network Places.
The following items on the Places menu perform actions rather than opening locations:
Connect to Server – Enables you to choose a server on a network. For more information about accessing remote networks, see Accessing a Remote Server.
Search for Files – Enables you to search for files on the computer. For more information about searching for files, refer to the Search Tool Manual.
Recent Documents – Lists the recently opened documents. The last entry in this submenu clears the list.
